Simone Lipscomb grew up on the Alabama Gulf Coast. Her love of nature was cultivated through interacting with the raw beauty of bays, beaches, and forests. She is a nature writer and photographer whose work is birthed from a deep, abiding love of the Earth. Simone's appreciation of nature comes from a direct relationship with all things wild. Her heart-centered approach guides her life and inspires her work.
Her undergraduate degree is in Outdoor Recreation, minor in Resource Management, from Auburn University. Her master's degree is in Counselor Education from Auburn University at Montgomery. Simone taught scuba for years and now enjoys open water and cave diving for fun.
Throughout her life Simone has worked as a facilitator for awareness and education as a state park naturalist, mental health counselor, community college instructor, and women's group leader.
In the year after the oil spill, Simone spent over 60 days on the beaches, bays and other waterways of the Gulf Coast. Through photography, videography, and writing she shared what she witnessed along the coast.
Simone has four books published. The Gulf Oil Spill Story, Sharks On My Fin Tips, and Place of Spirit are solo efforts and Crack Light is a collaboration with poet Thomas Rain Crowe.
Simone is a voice for all things wild.
